It is always difficult to tell about myself, constantly I recollect fine life's
details, which hardly can be interesting for someone except me. But the history
consists of the emotions, of a growing experience, of a difficulties and numerous
mistakes or, on the contrary, of a correct actions. So philosophical attitude
to a life formes in the course of time, gradually the maximalism of a youth
leaves you, and you understand, what not all your dreams come true, but you
want to reach something at any cost. And little by little you start to move
towards what was planned. This character trait distinguishes purposeful people
from the persons, who simply float past. The aspiration to admire the natural
beauty of the healthy perfect animals had led me to desire to breed chow-chows,
and in 1987 I have registered the "Alkmena"-kennel.
It is terrible to think, but I live with the dogs side by side almost 40 years!
And all time I was never disappointed that in 1966 I asked my parents to present
me with the first thoroughbred dog - East Europe sheep-dog, Zhanta by name.
From the communication with this clever animal my professional life in the
science of breeding began, and it led me to what I had learned to see, understand
and train dogs, and first of all to love them madly. The space on the pages
of the Internet will not be enough, if I shall start to enumerate known and
respected people, who go in for dogs-breeding, and with whom I had luckily
meeting and whose experience I had adopted. I thank them for it! Many grudges
and disappointments were in human relations and private life. But the dogs
never betraid me. The some dogs had left such strong emotional trace in your
soul, that you recollect with tears on eyes the stages of their life, and
you understand, that the strong independent person lived near with you, and
many biped individuals must learn with whom.
And so, the year 1987. I was in Leningrad with the visit to my friends and
I was persuaded to look at the first chow litter where one blue puppy was
born. As soon as I have taken him in my hands, our destinies were bound so,
that this blue puppy Stiopa (his nick-name) - Go Tsej Silver Shedou (his full
name) became the founder of my kennel. And, as in a fairy tale about the blue
puppy " Blue, Blue, we want to be your friends" I began to be friends
with chow and many chow-lovers of all over the world. Stiopa was very independent,
his behaviour differed from behaviour of other dogs, which I had earlier.
He demanded the big attention and particular respect to himself. It's fact,
that he was the real chow. As if this dog has been created for me.
By that time several generations of dogs lived in my kennel. After Zhanta,
who lived 13 years, there was Gaichy,an East Europe sheep-dog too. She had
left the terrestrial world in 16 years. Both dogs were with the fine show
and breeding career. When I had taken Stiopa, Mastino Napoletano, the English
bulldogs, the Sredneasiatskaya ovcharkas (Central Asian sheep-dogs) and Deutsche
Dogge, Hany by name, lived in my kennel. Unfortunately, dogs of these breeds
live very little, though are extremely interesting and clever.
Blue chow-puppy had grown up, and I began to show him at the dog-shows with
the big success. Stiopa was really chow chow - strong, compact, volumetric
with a correct coat, a good head and healthy legs. All these qualities and
good show-temperament helped him to become the "Best Of Breed" in
Czechoslovakia and Poland. He was the first chow in the USSR who won the international
shows. His name can be found in pedigrees of many modern champions. Usually
Go Tsej Silver Shedou was used in mating with mine females. At that time,
however as well as now, the word-combination " an export dog " meant
the best, and very few people paid attention to quality of this or that dog.
People in Russia always admired foreigners. In some areas of a life we should
learn at persons from other countries, but it is a fact that Stiopa was the
best, even the best of export dogs, at that time!
On a World Dog Show in Brno'1990 I have paid attention to type of dogs of
Canadian kennel "Mi Pao" and started to negotiate for purchase of
qualitative dogs from Canada for my kennel. Three dogs from Czechoslovakia
who bear in themselves blood of Mi Pao's dogs lived in my kennel already.
There were a breeding females: Wesna Dukat Severu (red) and Xantipa Dukat
Severu (red), and a breeding male Athis of Magnolia (red). At that time I
corresponded with foreign breeders much and had got two more females - of
black color from Holland and of fawn color from the USA. So, black Anhwei
Sulianhei and fawn Pambis American Dream came to my home. They bore in themselves
genes of different colors - blue and fawn. That's why I could receive dogs
of different colors in the breeding. Observing for the development of my puppies,
I understood, what movements chow chow should have, and I decided, what type
of dogs of this breed I want to receive in breeding.
In the beginning of 90'th breeding activity of the Canadian youth began: Mi
Pao's Red Robin (red male), Mi Pao's Flight of Fancy (red female), Mi Pao's
Midnight Cruising (black male), Mi Pao's Surprising (black female). In 1992
Alkmena Dream Bonifatsia (Athis of Magnolia х Pambis American Dream)
was born - female of a modern type became an excellent producer. From her
and Мi Pao's Midnight Cruising, I have received red female Alkmena
Kaina - Young World Champion, Europe Champion x2, InterChampion, Champion
of many countries and the winner of numerous shows, and her sister Alkmena
Klaudia (black) - InterChampion and Champion of many countries. They were
the dogs of a modern type with excellent anatomic proportions and temperament.
All known Vanechka (Mafusail Insanta) was born in 1993. He was the alimony
puppy from Athis of Magnolia and Ena Dziva (Go Tsej Silver Shedou х
Ershika Shogun). The sister and brother of Vania became champions of Russia
in the age of 1 year and 6 months and, unfortunately, have early finished
their show career. Shaggy and self-confident Vania should remain in my kennel.
From the childhood he possessed a particular bearing, inherent in the true
king of a show ring, whom he became. Many champions of our days bear in themselves
blood of Mafusail Insanta. Probably, not frequently in the show description
of a dog the brief phrase "the STANDARD of BREED" is written. I
have received such description of Vania on one of his numerous shows. Vania
has won a plenty of titles, the most important of them - the World Champion.
Always he had showing in the rings with a strong competition, and that's why
his victories cannot be named easy in any way. Professional breeders always
appreciate it very much.
1993 was important by a birth of a blue dog - Alkmena Diamant Аllois
(Aliosha), the son of Go Tsej Silver Shedou and Anhwei Sulianhei He became
the InterChampion, the Champion of Russia, Georgia, Belarus. Аliosha
had the very equal sated color and the excellent pigmentation, unfortunately,
he was used by me a little, and for others he was uninteresting as always.
In 1994 from Mi Pao's Red Robin and Pambis American Dream were born Alkmena
Diamant Hloya, who became one of the best producers and gave such stars as
Alkmena Parker, Alkmena Polina, Alkmena Penta, Alkmena Pritty, Alkmena Superstar,
Alkmena Scarlett, Alkmena Hanny in a consequence. Parker and Polina, staying
to live in Alkmena, have received from their parents not only the faultless
ex-terrier, also a temperament rare for many chows. During the show they are
inimitable!
The 1996'th. Аlkmena Meid (Mi Pao's Flight of Fancy and Mi Pao's Midnight
Cruising) was born. The harmonious male with the powerful skeleton and fine
character became a good producer. The form and proportions of his head are
ideal for chow. In Meid's pedigree there is a lot of dogs with a gene of cream
color, now it is so fashionable to concentrate attention on it.
The year 1997. I have decided to receive cream puppies by mating Mi Pao's
Flight of Fancy with Mi Pao's Cream Frosting. 6 puppies - 4 creams and 2 reds
- were born. So in Аlkmena-kennel the cream dogs have appeared: InterChampion
Alkmena Orfy and his sister InterChampion Alkmena Olympia.
In the same year I left the future InterChampions Alkmena Parker and Alkmena
Polina at the kennel. Though the quantity and quality of dogs already available
at my kennel have allowed receive excellent healthy puppies, free from entropion
and with strong joints and sinews, I started to look at dogs from some English
kennels. A little other type of the dogs, but for that the faultless impellent
device, the good proportions, excellent quality of a wool, this are some features
which distinguish many English champions. Since 1994 regularly I was coming
to Birmingham at the world famous show Cruft's Dog Show and, at last, have
decided to get a male from the kennel Byhorn and a female from the kennel
Tsuni. Byhorn Red Kail (his nick-name is Kesha) has arrived together with
female Tsuni Anne-Marie (Anny). I was not mistaken in a choice of dogs. Children
of Kesha were born such as I represented.
To those people who don't know me or who are guided by someone's opinion (not
always true) I shall explain one more principle of the approach to ethics
of breeding. In 1996, on April, 26 Russian chow-lovers made me the responsible
and selected me by president of National Club of Chow Chow Breed. For this
reason I don't show my personal dogs at the shows made by the National Club
- I don't want to put those judges, who are invited by organizers of the show,
in inconvenient position. The fairy tales about my influence on an estimation
(which the invited judge should make) of dogs, what I carry out by using the
position of the president of national club, not only contradict my principles,
but also, as a rule, those people was telling it, who can make so once. I
advise them to not measure all on themselves.
About my experience of breeding and about my love to chows we can talk for
a long time with all persons interested in a professional dialogue on the
pages of my site as I have found time and opportunities to make it at last.
I could write such small information about the beginning of kennel's work,
work from that time and till the present day. I hope, that my dogs, photos
of which you will see on the pages of the Alkmena's site, will make pleasure
to me and you.
